I’ve just finished listening to the two-part interview with Dr Marc Vidal at Futures in Biotech and found that amongst other things, he is a great speaker.

I noticed a slight accent in his speech, so I decided to look up “Marc Vidal” at Wikipedia, but found the wrong Marc Vidal…

But getting back to his interview, I noticed that these top researchers are always (or almost) able to explain such complicated things as the interactome or ORFeome to people that no very little about biotechnology or genetics, like one of the podcast interviewers.

Do famous biotech researchers become so due to their ability to express their thoughts or do they acquire this skill set as they are requested to explain their groundbreaking work in interviews and speeches?

Nowadays it’s impossible to be doing just one thing at a time. Just look at me now, I’m writing this while I’m listening to online radio station, I have a TV stream running mute (just in case something good starts) and then there are the IM windows blinking, and the email notifier popping up every five minutes with a new batch of spam.

Yeah, meantime I’m only getting about 10% of each of these things done at a time.

Nevertheless, I just started rambling about this because I noticed that I had too much things going on here while I was listening to a podcast that deserved a little more than 10% of my attention.

There are in fact some podcasts that deserve a closer, and more attentive, hearing to grasp the information being passed over the waves (bytes!?).

Amoung the podcasts I listen to, I have to mention the ones related to my fields of choice: biotechnology, molecular biology, life sciences, etc

Here are a couple of the podcasts I keep an ear on:

Futures in Biotech
Still only on their second installment so far, but good guests and great subjects.

The Naked Scientists
Not so much biotech, but there are a good deal of science related subjects approached.

The Scientific American
Regular updates and great topics of conversation. Some biotech issues discussed here and there.

Biotech Nation @ IT Conversations
Not so fascinating as some of the previous but you get to learn about what is being done in a fair number of pharma companies.

Nature Podcast
I would guess that everybody already knew about these. Good listening. Various topics per podcast.

I would believe that there are much more (are there?) worth listening and learning to, but I have not had the pleasure of finding them. You know any worth listening to?

I’ll try and keep this post updated as find new and interesting podcasts related to biotech.
