I received my Spock Search (beta) invite today and have been giving it a try.

Spock Search People

I’m still not completely sold over the concept but it is quite cool to search for your name and see how many other people the search engine presents to you.

If you don’t know what Spock is, let me use their own words:

Spock is the online leader in personal search, helping users find and discover people. With over one hundred million people already indexed and millions added every day, Spock is building the broadest and deepest people specific search engine.

It has a smart way to link different social network (LinkedIn, MySpace, Friendster, etc) info into one big melting pot and thus building a mixed profile for it’s users and famous people with information spread around the web (ex. wikipedia, encarta.msn.com, etc).

If could help find some people with the same interests as yours but let’s see how this grows before I can really assert to its usefulness.

For example: A quick search for the term “DNA” brings up some of the big names like James Watson, Francis Crick, Rosalind Franklin and… uhm… Douglas Adams? (I guess some tweaking is needed!)

It seems I have 3 100 invites to give away. If you’re interested, leave a comment or email me.
