Petri dish on Illustrator
I’ve used CorelDraw for a couple years now and am pretty comfortable producing whatever comes to mind with it but recently I got the opportunity to use Adobe’s Illustrator and it’s a whole new world.
I’m still getting used to the tools and tricks. This is what I managed to create on my first try, a simple Petri Dish.

It took me about 10 times as long as it would to make in CorelDraw since I was trying to find out how and where things worked.
What do you think? You like?

Looks pretty snazzy considering it was your first time. Ultimatelly the usefulness depends on what you’d want to do with the art work. I’ll buy it if its for the web of for a poster. But for publications? A mentor of mine once said that the time to complete a manuscript increases exponentially with the number of figures in it.
It’s great! You should put your blog’s name in it and that could be a logo or banner for My Biotech Life. :)
It looks great. That orange glow is a nice final touch !
Only microbials missing …
Looks really clean and professional. Keep it up!
Hi guys,
Thanks for the comments. I’m going to make a couple color variations and put it up in the Science icons and logos page for download.
Hi,
I like the illustration very much…very good work…especially you mentioned that you start to use recently…If you don’t mind I would like to give a link to your illustrations from biocomicals.
Thank you
