Presenting… The DNA Network
After a short conversation with Hsien Hsien Lei, PhD from Eye on DNA regarding Feedburner Networks, the idea of a network for bloggers that focus on DNA, genetics and related areas came to light and thus was born The DNA Network.
Here is the logo I quickly mocked up:
A network (double helix?) composed of life science enthusiasts with specialized views in areas such as genetics, biology, biotechnology, health care, and much more.
If you think you should be a part of this network, please leave a comment or just email me at rvidal -at- gmail -dot- com.

a very good idea, I write a blog on microarrays but also spend quite some time on other topics related to genetics and use of technology in biology and genetics
Albin, I’m happy you like the idea. Just checked your blog and I must say it looks great. ;)
Rick,
I think this is a great idea, I would love to join the DNA Network. I blog about the intersection of genetics and genealogy.
If I ever start blogging in English I would love to be included but for now I host one of the very few Polish science blogs and don’t have enough time to write two :(
Hey migg, I hopped over to your blog. It looks like it’s got all the interesting topics going on, but I don’t understand one word, sadly.
If you ever do get around to writing an english version, drop a line :)
Good idea. I get quite a few hits from the 2 feedburner networks I belong to. I’m not sure if my topic is to general to be included (you, know because I talk about proteins and RNA too) :)
Albin and Brian, I’ve emailed you both. ;)
And migg… Maybe we should include your Polish blog. I’m guessing some/all of your readers would be interested in the English ones as well. Will talk to Rick about it. :)
Great Idea!
Does Henry make the grade? I post occasionally about genetics, mainly stuff like human origins/pop. history and phylogenetics -
you can check the genetics section here.

Rick, I’m sure you understood a handful. Chromosom or gen come to mind ;) But currently I’m having a contest for the best Polish word for “woo”, which is one of my blog categories.
Hsien, thanks. Maybe it’s a good idea even though it’s in Polish, I know that at least some of my readers check on Pharyngula regularly.
Migg, I did see some similar words in there but well, the overall language is cryptic to me. :)
Nonetheless, I agree that we should include your blog, specially since there is most probably a good Polish readership that also reads English blogs.
I’m interested. Here’s my feed url: http://feeds.feedburner.com/scienceblogs/evolgen
Hi! Glad to see you want in. I’ve just sent you an invite. Thanks for joining us!
Rick,
Thank you for the invite. What an excellent idea! And what an awesome logo. Would you consider designing The Gene Sherpa’s logo?

Hi Steve, thank you for joining us! And I appreciate the complement regarding the logo.

Gene Genie for 19 May 2007…
In honor of my first Gene Genie…
Hi, this DNA Network idea is briliant! I think my weblog dealing with cancer genetics (www.cancer-genetics.com) could be a part of this network. I would appreciate feedback and comments.
Best wishes,
Ram?nas
Nice. I’m writing about research highlights from reporter genes field at Reportergene. I think my blog could be of interest from DNA network readers.
ops! the link upstair is corrupted. The blog Reportergene is written by a molecular pharmacologist, and aims to be a repository of transversal informations and news on reporter genes.
Hey,
This might be a weird request but can I use that logo, minus the text, on my resume/business cards? I have just finished university and am looking for work and I think the logo you made is great.
Hi Colleen,
I wouldn’t say it’s wierd. We are in the process os setting up our DNA Network site and the logo will be used on it as it is used on our feeds and such. So, I’m not really sure if it would meet our, or your interest to use the logo on your personal card.
Hi Ricardo,
I wanted to ask you whether you think I could join the DNA Network. I am a (soon-to-be) graduate student blogging about peer-reviewed research, health, and the life sciences in general.
Let me know what you think - a comment on my blog or e-mail would do).
Thanks!
I write a blog that takes a look at the molecular basis for genetic disorders and traits in humans (and sometimes other species. I’d love to be part of your network. Thanks,
Christine Mehigh
